THE 2ND BIENNIAL CONFERENCE

2002 2nd Biennial Conference on 16 & 17 December 2002 at Hong Kong Baptist University

The Hong Kong Economic Association will hold its second Biennial Conference on the HK Baptist University campus in 2002. The general theme will be A New World Economic Order. While papers on this general theme are particularly welcome, papers on other subjects, both theoretical and empirical, are also invited. Special Sessions include: The Hong Kong Institute for Monetary Research's General Session on Monetary Issues in the Asia Pacific Region, and possibly others. The second Biennial Conference is co-sponsored by: the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Lingnan University, the University of Hong Kong, along with the Chinese Economic Association in North America (CEANA), the Pacific Economic Review, and the Australian Economic Papers.

All conference participants other than session organizers will be subject to a registration fee of HK$780/US$100, if they are members of the HKEA/CEANA(or HK$1160/US$150 including the dinner speech). For non-members, registration fee is HK$1000/US$130 exclusive of the dinner and HK$1380/US$180 inclusive of dinner. Cheques should be payable to the Hong Kong Economic Association and sent to the Department of Economics, Lingnan University.

The seven universities and CEANA, The Chinese Economists Association, as well as Australian Economic Papers/University of South Australia, are organizing sessions on designated areas. The names of sessions will be posted on the web with their contact persons as soon as possible. Meanwhile, however, all papers can be submitted to Dr. Xiang-dong Wei, Department of Economics, Lingnan University, Tuen Mun, Hong Kong, email:This email address is being protected from spambots. After the conference, authors are encouraged to submit their conference papers to Pacific Economic Review or Australian Economic Papers, both of which are planning special issues. Conference papers submitted to the Pacific Economic Review within six months of the conference will be exempt from the normal submission fee of US$30.
